WELCOME!
Butte Country Ranch is about family and quality. We raise American Aberdeens at the foot of the historic Sutter Buttes in the Sacramento Valley of California. The size and efficiency of the American Aberdeen sets them apart from any other breed and raising them has made our operation much more efficient and much less labor intensive. If this is something you are interested in, or you just have questions, contact us and let us know your needs.
THE AMERICAN ABERDEEN BREED
American Aberdeen cattle are easy calving, good natured cattle that are very feed efficient and maintain themselves on grass. American Aberdeens answer the challenges of both the large scale rancher and the small acreage farmers.
ABOUT BUTTE COUNTRY RANCH
We are a family-operated organization that raise American Aberdeen Cattle. We are proud of our small herd and continue to develop quality animals through strategic mating selections.
our GOAL
to provide quality American Aberdeen Cattle to small acreage farmers, larger scale ranchers, or kids looking for their next project animal.

Youth project animals
Holley started her steer program in 2016, the driving force behind the project was that her nephews were finally old enough to start showing cattle in their County Fair; Why not show something out of the family’s herd? Like most County Fair’s, their fair had weight restrictions that made the American Aberdeen steers ineligible from exhibiting. When Holley presented her idea of creating a separate class for the registered American Aberdeen steers, the Fair Board Members approved with the stipulation that she would get more kids involved. And since then, the project has grown.
